Working principle of eddy current testing
Eddy current detection is the process of approaching a conductor to a coil (referred to as a probe) with alternating current, and establishing an alternating magnetic field through the coil. This alternating magnetic field passes through the conductor and undergoes electromagnetic induction, creating eddy currents within the conductor. The eddy currents in conductors also generate their own magnetic field, and the effect of the eddy current magnetic field can change the strength of the original magnetic field, leading to changes in coil voltage and impedance. Therefore, when defects appear on the surface or near the surface of the conductor or when the measured metal material changes, it will affect the intensity and distribution of eddy currents. The changes in eddy currents also cause changes in the voltage and impedance of the detection coil. Based on this change, the existence of defects inside the conductor and whether the performance of the metal material has changed can be indirectly known.

2. Unique probe index function. The level of flaw detection performance largely depends on the quality of the probe and the rationality of the probe installation. We have adopted a unique algorithm to synthesize the various parameters of the probe, and have created the concept of "probe index". The "probe index" reflects the comprehensive performance of the probe, providing maximum guidance for debugging personnel, making it systematic and greatly reducing adjustment time.
3. Not dependent on computer operation. The multi frequency and multi filter eddy current flaw detector adopts the most advanced electronic technology and is fully digital in design. At present, other flaw detectors rely on one or more computers for data processing, highly relying on computers. The disadvantages of this method are: poor instrument stability, heavy reliance on third parties for equipment quality and service, large volume, and poor replaceability. Our new generation of flaw detectors adopts advanced DSP and FPGA technology, which has complete flaw detection functions such as data acquisition, data analysis, alarm analysis, etc. It can work completely without the computer. The computer used by the instrument is only used as a human-machine interface, so the requirements for the computer are greatly reduced, and replacement and maintenance are more convenient.
4. Accurate and refined data processing functions. The data processing method of wavelet transform used in this instrument makes the signal processing more accurate, greatly improving the signal-to-noise ratio.
5. Networked structure: distribution and concentration at will. Each channel of the instrument is a module with complete flaw detection function, and these modules can be centralized or distributed throughout the entire workshop. They only need a standard Ethernet switch to achieve centralized management. Whether used in a centralized or distributed manner, they can work independently, and the failure of a single channel will never affect other channels, unlike the phenomenon of all channel failures in traditional multi-channel flaw detectors.
